Disaster Prevention, Management and Emergency Services.

A modern emergency system for prevention, response, safety, and resilience.

POLICY ON DISASTER PREVENTION, MANAGEMENT AND EMERGENCY SERVICES UNIT FOR GHANA.

This policy aims to establish a robust, responsive, and integrated disaster prevention and emergency services unit for Ghana, addressing key areas of flood prevention, suicide prevention, cybersecurity, sports-related emergencies, burns, school and public safety, and other critical areas. The goal is to protect lives, property, and the environment through modern, well-resourced strategies. This plan includes the establishment of a National Disaster Prevention and Management College in the Western, Northern and Volta region to serve as a hub for research, training, and long-term disaster management.

This 3-year comprehensive Emergency Services Policy for Ghana aims to build a robust, responsive, and integrated emergency services system. The plan will cover multiple sectors, including fire service, towing, emergency health services, disaster prevention and management, and emergency response across transportation, including air, sea, road, and rail systems. It will also emphasize specialized personnel training, integrate emergency education into school curricula, and form community-based emergency squads to enhance local responsiveness.
